Frederick A. Powell Frederick A. Powell, 71, of Evansville, passed away Monday, July 20, 2009, at St. Mary's Medical Center.
He retired from Whirlpool after more than thirty years of service. Fred was a member of Holy Rosary Catholic Church, and assisted with the soup kitchen at St. Johns Church downtown. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, and was an accomplished woodworker, making furniture and clocks, and he enjoyed traveling. Fred was a loving husband, father, and grandfather, who enjoyed spending time with his family.
Fred is survived by his wife of forty seven years, Sandra (Branch) Powell, of Evansville; son, Scott Powell and fiancé, Krista Chapman McFerren, of Carrollton, MO; daughter, Julie Powell Thomas, of Newburgh, IN; grandchildren, Shelby and Shariden Powell, and Jarrett and Josh Thomas; sisters, Nelda Day, of Tell City, IN, Dorothy Jennings, of New Albany, IN, Marilyn Kenny, of Shepherdsville, KY; and brother Richard Boling, of New Albany, IN.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Frederick and Nellie Powell, brothers, Clarence Powell, and Randell and Scott Boling; sisters, Stella Vega, Vine Rodermond, Pearl Mils, Christeen Hobbs, Eva May Days, Evelyn Wittmer, and Gaile Marie Powell.
Services will be Thursday, July 23, 2009, at 10:00 a.m., at Holy Rosary Catholic Church, 1301 S. Green River Rd., with Father Bernie Etienne officiating.
Visitation will be held Wednesday, July 22, 2009, from 2:00-8:00 p.m. at Ziemer Funeral Home East Chapel, 800 S. Hebron Ave., Evansville, IN, with a Memorial Service at 7:00 p.m. Visitation will continue on Thursday, from 9:30-10:00 a.m. at the church.
Entombment will be in St. Joseph Mausoleum.
