ETHEL A. (PFRANG) SAMPSON
Ethel A. Pfrang Sampson, age 88, of Evansville, was born to William and Meta Tiek Pfrang on October 15, 1921. Ethel passed away to be with her Lord and Savior on March 5, 2010. She was preceded in death by her parents; her sister Ruth Koenig; her brother Herbert Pfrang; and a baby sister. Ethel married Bernard Sampson on June 22, 1946. Her husband, Bernard Sampson, also preceded her in death. Ethel is survived by her brother Harold Pfrang; her son and his wife, Dr. Steven Sampson and Angie; two step grandchildren, Kevin Strange and Stephanie Land and husband James; one step grandchild, Tyler Land; and nieces, nephews and cousins.
Ethel graduated from Bicknell High School and went to work at Hamilton Glass factory in Vincennes Indiana. She then worked for the Bureau of Mines. She was a stay-at-home mom for a few years until St. John's United Church of Christ needed a secretary, at which time she started and organized the church office. She then went to work for James Moran in accounting and taxes. She also obtained her real estate license. She retired from Mr. Moran's office and then helped her son, Dr. Steven Sampson, to find an office and start his own practice. She was the secretary, bookkeeper, accountant, receptionist, and optician for the first few years. She continued to help with the accounting until the last few years.
Ethel enjoyed her church family at Bethel United Church of Christ, especially the Friday Fellowship group. She enjoyed her flower garden, liked to fish, and enjoyed researching her family history.
